Discovering makeup was like a child on a treasure hunt that struck gold. Fashion Fair was one of the first brands I explored growing up as many of their products lived in my mother’s makeup bag. When I was asked to try it I suddenly reminisced back to my childhood. For a split second, I almost associated Fashion Fair with my mum and wondered if I’m the right target audience. I gave it a try because let’s face makeup is ageless.
Let’s begin with the Fashion Fair True Finish Liquid Foundation which I found to be medium to full coverage. What I love the most is the shade. If you have red undertone and mix an umpteen number of foundations because you struggle to find your shade. You’ll find it here. Before I left for my Nigerian escapades, Enduring Ebony was the shade that matched me perfectly, It’s a red undertone with hints of yellow in it. After my trip, I was slightly more tanned, and my undertone was more on the red side, so I found I was reaching for Previous Onyx. They both glide on smoothly, blend well and give a natural dewy finish. The smell is a little strange, but this could be due to their fragrance-free approach.
I have a love-hate relationship with the Fashion Fair Liquid Eyeliner. It glides on well, and is quite black and dries matte but goodness me it gets everywhere. When putting the applicator back into the tube the product rises to the top the further down you insert the applicator into the tube so more product gushes out so by the time you close the product, there’s black liquid product on every possible surface and my hands. The packaging for this needs to be revamped ASAP. After a while, the bristle start to fray so you may end up with a double wing eyeliner when you didn’t intend to.
The Fashion Fair lipstick in Dynasty Red is quite impressive. It’s a great blue toned red that glides on perfectly. The formula is quite nourishing so it won’t leave your lips cracked for days on end. Pair it with a lipliner and girl you are in business.
