Afternoon Tea is one of my favourite things to do in London so when Conrad Hotel St James invited me to try their limited edition Summer in the City. I was delighted. Firstly let’s start with the location which is inspired by the heritage of London and Westminister. We sat in the Emmeline lounge which is the lounge filled with fanciful creations that emulate the chic whimsical space of Alice in Wonderland. The love seats coupled with the mood lighting really set the mood for the experience.
The evening began with earl grey tea, as it’s one of my favourites. Following on was pastry and then enjoyed the infused coconut and pineapple scones with cream and jam. The cream was so rich and filling. Remarkable.
Next we were spoilt with the overflowing champagne, which accompanied the savoury treat. They had my favourite things on this place. Brioche bread, prawns, salmon. I have to say they were VERY generous with the salmon.
Lastly were the sweet treats which looked very summery. I had no idea where to start. The jelly ‘cocktails’ were infused with an array of flavours. The mojito macaroons were notably delightful. The chocolate mousse mini ice cream cones went down a treat. Dis you see what I did there?
The Conrad London will serve 1 more limited edition afternoon tea menu which will be the Autumn Bramble Afternoon Tea, 31st August – 23rd November.
Their pastry chefs really brought together an array of mouth-watering savoury and sweet treats, adding new levels of sophistication to this most quintessentially classic of British culinary experiences. You must experience this and it’s only £35 per person, or £45 for per person for the free flowing champagne option. I think this is such great value for money and it up there with great places to have afternoon tea.
