Autumn is nearly upon us, so ghastly winds are soon to be getting stronger over the next few months which can have a negative effect on our skin, especially our hands. To keep it short and sweet I’m going to offer you 3 tips to keep your hands moisturised through the colder months.
- Avoid soap if you can. I’m very particular with everything I use, so I like to avoid formulas with synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and sulfates. These ingredients are the number one cause of dryness. There are two types of soaps that will strip your skin of its own natural fats and oils which are are foaming and antibacterial as they contain alcohol.
- Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. Now something that I do is I never let hands completely dry after I wash them. you want to keep your hands slightly damp, then work your hand cream in. I find that it just helps my hand cream absorb better into my skin. Try the E45 Repair and Protect Hand Cream—it absorbs easily, so you won’t feel greasy, and soothes my skin.
- Avoid hot-air dryers. These drying gadgets are are becoming increasingly popular because they save money and the “environment”, but they don’t save your hands, unfortunately. Pat your hands dry with some toilet paper or simply shake dry, then put on your hand cream on!
