There’s always a thrill when trying new trends and textures. I think it has something to do with transforming your identity; we’re constantly looking for new ways to look good so experimenting has the potential to provide it.
Today, I’m testing out Jaquard. Reminiscent of vintage Versace, it’s all about textured fabrics, silk tapestries and ornate details.
I know this isn’t a new trend, but I felt like I was finally ready to try it out. When I received my ASOS delivery at work, I showed everyone all the beautiful pieces that I was adding to my winter collection.
However, my statement Baroque midi skirt wasn’t everyone’s favourite. The highlights include “you saw a curtain and thought, oh, I can make a dress out if that” or “is that skirt from the medieval times?” – I have to say I had a good chuckle.
Since the skirt is a striking satin red, embellished with a black ornate print, I’ve toned it down with a crop blouse featuring added detail on the sleeve to balance the exaggeration of the skirt. I know – another crop top, but this time the material is quite thick so it’s definitely winter appropriate.
Finally, I sealed my outfit with an elegant pair of black suede courts. For accessories, I think I a small clutch like this would have been perfect.
