Hey loves, how are you doing? Thanks for the love on my last post. It’s funny how the cost of makeup racks up. Today’s post is a skin care post.
Just like you I adore makeup, but the first step to great makeup is great skin. As some of you may or may not know I’m an avid skin care junkie, and very proud of it. My skincare goal is to have skin so good, I can have makeup free days and not have strange looks from the public as if I just walked off a space shuttle. I’ve tried every brightening cream, blemish cream, scar removal cream under the sun, and to no avail. The most extreme thing that I can do is a chemical peel. I am considering a chemical peel, however I want to make sure that I’ve exhausted every skin care option before I start shelling out thousands of pounds for amazing skin.
The REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask has all the rage this summer promising bright and radiant skin . It’s packed with fruit acids from grape, pineapple, lemon and papaya. As a fan of natural products, this product is just that; a natural exfoliating peel which will to remove those dead skin cells, and help rid of any blockages in the complexion to give you that healthy glowy radiant look just after one use of this product. Every girls dream right!
For me this product is going a little step further in my usual skincare regime as the Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask contains 6.5% of glycolic acid. When getting a chemical peel the professionals use between 20-70% of glycolic acid, so I thought this would be a great way to ease my skin into the process should I take the professional route.
It seems that there isn’t a set way to apply this product so I use 2 pumps and massage the product into my face and neck, then I sit and wait and let it do its magic for 10 minutes and then gently wipe off the mask with a damp cloth (a face cloth is tucked away in the packaging of the product).
REN does mention there is a slight tingle with this product, and YES I did feel it. It felt like an itch that needs to be scratched, which I did find a little unpleasant. Even when I removed the mask, I still felt a slight tingle before it did begin to settle down.
The scent of the mask is quite fruity and floral thanks to natural fruit acids from passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple which work with papain enzyme (from papaya extract) in the product. The texture of the mask reminds me of jelly, so it’s not a pretty sight when you have this ask for, but it makes quite a practical joke in my home at least.
RESULTS: My skin felt amazingly smooth, and hydrated. I did notice a slight difference in my skin, it looked so fresh and so clean clean clean. Remember that song? Anywho as my hyperpigmentation is quite distinctive around my mouth I didn’t notice anything major there, however I have noticed the dark scarring on my cheek which has significantly reduced. I had to look elsewhere on my body to see it didn’t like the slide down to another part of my body, because it felt like a magic trick on my skin. I’m excited to incorporate glycolic acid into my skincare.
Oh and before I forget when using any form of acid on your skin, as its removing dead skin cells and revealing new baby fresh skin, you want to make sure that skin is firmly protected by using an SPF so your not prone to sun damage, and skin problems.
The cost of the magic in a bottle comes in at £30, however as its not something used every day, I think it’s certainly good value for money.
