INTERNSHIP: WEEK 1: LIBERTY PRESS OFFICE

Hi there, ok so those of you who follow me on “twitterville” will know that I am currently working at Liberty department store in the Press Office. My internship is for one month, and I will post a weekly diary-post to let you know how I am getting on.

I arrived on Tuesday for an induction which I loved because we were able to gain an insight into Liberty Fabric from design to production.
On Wednesday morning, it was so manic that there was no time for conversations. However, I was introduced to Kat the Press Assistant who I would be working closely with.

My job was to attend to all press requests sent by newspapers and magazines. The items were mainly homeware or womenswear, however every now and again we had requests for menswear.

The process of signing out items for publications was a long procedure, and sometimes took an hour and a half (with the odd minor mistake). Once I got the hang of it, it only took me 30 mins to complete requests the following day. Personally, I think that should be in the Guinness world book of records, don’t you think?

Friday rolled round very quickly and I got to know Kate better. She’s the Head of Press and such a lovely person. Oh, and another bonus: she’s a dog lover too – in fact everyone is  (well, apart from the Senior Press Officer).
So every now and again, we looked at cute pictures of dogs – some were so cute! As a Friday treat, Kate and I headed down to Snog (and the ice cream parlour on ground floor) and got Fro- Yo, which I have to say was delicious. I even tweeted a picture of it; here it is if you didn’t see it.
