What’s an eyeshadow base?
An eyeshadow base acts as a barrier between your skin and the eyeshadow.
It allows your eyeshadow to stay on much longer than applying eyeshadow directly on to your skin.
Why is an eyeshadow base needed?
Since we constantly blink, our eyelids create sweat/oil from our glands.
This is a pain when you are wearing eyeshadow because by the end of the night (or sometimes mid day) you will find that your eyeshadow has fallen into the creases of your eyelids, and your eyeshadow will look messy!
With the help of the eyeshadow base its stops the eyeshadow from falling in between the creases, and allows it to stay in place. The best part of an eyeshadow base is that it allows the colour to be as vibrant and bright as it looks in the pack it came in.
For example, if you’re white or light skinned then eyeshadows will show up great. However, if you’re a dark skinned beauty (like me hehe) then you may have trouble with the colour of your eyeshadow once you apply it (that’s why dark skinned beauties stick to the bright gold eyeshadow, because it’s the only thing that shows up on our skin).
What’s the difference between an eyeshadow base and an eyeshadow primer?
An eyeshadow base and an eyeshadow primer is exactly the same thing; it just has two names.
What eyeshadow bases/primers would you recommend?
Personally I like the Urban Decay Primer Potion, but its the only one I have tried.
