Suffering from hyper pigmentation is actually the devil. Hyper-pigmentation is extremely common amongst us women of colour. This is due to black skin having more cell layers than Caucasian skin. When our skin suffers from inflammation, it happens under the skin, unlike our white counterparts. This condition is commonly known as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation. (PIH).
I suffer from hyperpigmentation around my mouth. I’ve had it for years! I’ve tried everything there is. I was keen to try Eucerin Even Brighter Range which is a brand that has been around for years but doesn’t contain any harsh bleaching chemicals. The range consists of the Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream SPF30, Eucerin Even Brighter Night Cream and Eucerin Even Brighter Spot Corrector. I’ve read rave reviews about this product, and seen plenty of before and after pictures.
I was pretty excited to try the Eucerin EVEN BRIGHTER Day Cream as it’s been clinically and dermatologically proven to reduce the dark spots and uneven skin tone caused by hyperpigmentation disorders. They should have just written my name at the end of it, as they’ve just talked about all my skin concerns. The ingredients list is very interesting as it contains B-Resorcinol which decreases melanin production and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation. Glycyrrhetinic acid to stimulate your skin’s own damage repair processes. Although I completely forgot as it doesn’t say on the actual product itself, it has high SPF 30 and UVA protection to further prevent sun damage and pigmentation.
I’m going to be honest with you guys. It just didn’t work for me 🙁 I used it religiously every day, and every night for over a month. I even got my sister to try it out also which it didn’t do anything for her either. I’m going to keep using it, as I don’t like wasting products. I still have hope that it may work in the 100th week or something strange like that. I’m starting to think that I’m an alien because nothing seems to work for me when it comes to hyperpigmentation.
It contains the same ingredients as the Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream, however the added ingredient of Dexpanthenol which helps to support the skin’s natural regeneration process overnight. Each day I’d wake up excited, and rush to the mirror hoping to see something different. At one point, I had thought that my mirror was broken. Again, I saw no change.
I’ve only started using this a few weeks ago. I wanted to see if I’d see a change from the Eucerin Even Brighter Day and Night Cream, so I could pinpoint what product was working for me. Again it contains the same ingredients as the day cream however its best used for pigmentation spots, freckles, age spots and the like.
Personally, I was extremely disappointed by this product, considering the rave reviews. I’m yet to see a review on someone that is not Caucasian. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
Anyhow, I’ve had enough, I’m going to Harley Street next week for a chemical peel. It’s just so needed!
Have you used the Eucerin Even Brighter skincare range?
